Pay and Reward Survey 2021
In 2021 the National Association of Shopfitters (NAS) conducted the first Pay and Reward Survey in the Shopfitting / Fit-out Sector. Below you will find information about survey methodology and the key outcomes. More details are included in the document available for download below. The NAS Members and survey contributors have access to a full version of the document.
The purpose of this survey is to gather pay and reward rates across the sector, so that they can be benchmarked and shared with both the NAS Membership and also any additional contributors to the survey. The NAS aims to complete this exercise on a periodic basis, so that trends in pay and reward can be identified.
The survey has been launched at a time that colleagues at the Construction Industry Joint Council (CIJC) were negotiating pay and conditions with the Trades Unions, GMB and Unite. However, it is a reality that many employers are already paying in excess of the Working Rule Agreement (WRA) rates to attract and retain employees. The NAS’ Pay and Reward Survey 2021 will help place the outcome of the negotiations in the context of the sector’s true pay and reward rates.
The survey was conducted between May and June 2021.
Who responded to the survey
NAS invited all members and non-member fit-out companies to contribute. We received information from businesses based in all country regions. In total, 27 shopfitting, fitout and interior contracting companies completed the survey, providing insights for over 500 employees. Details included pay rates for the following roles:
- Apprentice
- Joiner
- Site Fixer
- Estimator
- Setter Out
- Site Manager
- Projects Manager
- Contract Manager
