The Government has outlined its response to the Grenfell Inquiry’s Phase 2 Report, accepting 49 out of 58 recommendations in full and committing to implementing the remaining 9 in principle. This marks a significant step in strengthening building safety standards and reforming construction practices following the tragic events of 14 June 2017.
Alongside this, a Green Paper on Construction Products Reform has been released, setting out proposals to improve product testing, certification, and regulatory oversight, responding directly to failings highlighted in the Inquiry.
At the NAS, we recognise the vital importance of these reforms in ensuring safer, more accountable construction practices. The report underscores the need for higher standards, greater competence, and a lasting cultural shift across the industry. As the voice of shopfitting, interior contracting, and fitout professionals, we remain committed to working alongside Government, industry leaders, and regulatory bodies to embed these changes and drive a safer, more responsible sector.
We encourage our Members to engage with the Construction Products Reform Green Paper and stay informed on how these measures will impact our industry.
