David Edmonds

NAS President and Managing Director of A Edmonds & Co Ltd

When did you become a member of the NAS? We were founder members of the NAS and so joined in 1919.

What has your company gained by being a member?
Being in construction can be isolating and quite often difficult – the NAS provides a forum of like minded people all struggling with the same issues who can provide guidance and support. Quite often it is the informal discussions that provide as much benefit as the more formal services such as training etc.

How long have you been in the industry?
I have been directly in construction since 2002 having spent the previous 11 years in heavy chemicals as a Mechanical Engineer.

What is your greatest achievement/are you most proud of?

I am incredibly proud of the skills that we have and the ability to turn a two dimensional image into a product of beauty. One of the greatest achievements is the creation of museum cases for the Wallace Collection to house their priceless gold boxes.

When did you become a member of the NAS? Tekne became members of the NAS some 30+ years ago and remain heavily involved with shaping the future of the association and being influential in the industry of today.

What has your company gained by being a member?
By immersing ourselves in the association’s activities and events, we now treasure the friendship and comradery that has grown through the years between like minded people. The support and advice that we have all experienced is invaluable.

How long have you been in the industry?
My training started from the age of four when I was passed a simple set of tools from my father, and then spent hours learning from the master craftsman himself.  I formally joined the industry at the age of 16, fresh out of school.

What is your greatest achievement/are you most proud of?

Professionally I have a number I am proud of from my involvement within the Shopfitting arena.  I hold the local record for the shortest time to complete my City & Guilds based NVQ 3 qualification, the NAS Southern and National Apprentice Design Award winner and the youngest person to undertake timed trial event for membership into the Worshipful Company of Joiner & Ceilers.

My greatest personal achievement, which I’m still working towards, is becoming Managing Director of TEKNE.
