Marcon recently completed the 6-week high end fit out of luxury cashmere brand Johnstons of Elgin at Kildare Village. With stores six stores in the UK this is the company’s first store in Ireland. Established in 1797 at Newmill Elgin on the banks of the River Lossie, Johnstons of Elgin is the UK’s largest producer of luxury cashmere and fine woollens and is the only mill in the UK to take raw fibre and transform it each step of the way into an impressive range of exceptional cashmere, wool, and natural fibre products.

Marcon fulfilled the role of Principal Contractor for the fit out of the empty shell to create a single-story retail store with a mezzanine level at the rear. The ground floor has a gross area of 160 m2 and incorporates retail space, fitting rooms, and toilet. The mezzanine floor comprises the stockroom, staff room and office. This layout offered the opportunity for a huge double height void to the front, which allowed for a creative and dynamic design solution that emphasizes the core identity of the brand through secondary signage, such as a seasonal graphics and attractive lighting solutions.

In keeping with the brands values an installation with minimal environmental impact was required. Marcon are members of the British Woodworking Federation and this ensures 100% of our timber is sustainably sourced and FSC Certified. The choice of finishing materials can result in harmful emissions. We assess all products such as paints, varnishes, coatings, adhesives, sealants, and any composite wood products and specify low-VOC alternatives where available and practical.
