SICCS Temporary Worker Competency Card
NAS Skills Lead Amanda Scott reports, “Changes in vocational competency requirements can affect your company and access to site as site based vocational competency must now be proven. The good news is we are listening and are fortunate to respond to difficulties reported by members and the wider sector, acting quickly to address the challenges faced.
The new SICCS Shopfitting Temporary Worker Competency Card has been created to assist those experienced in their trade who need to verify site-based competency but do not hold the right qualifications or are facing a difficulty due to the Industry Accreditation (Grandfather rights) closure.”
Who can apply
Experienced craftspeople from our sector with no vocational qualifications who are now required to undertake an S/NVQ via the OSAT route. This is designed with those in mind who have been impacted by the removal of the Industry Accreditation (Grandfather Rights) system. The OSAT is a quick process of assessment of your skills by an approved assessor, conducted on site and does not require college attendance or long duration. This card will cover you during this transition period.
Those who hold L2 Diploma’s instead of S/NVQ’s. Unfortunately, the diploma is college-based course and does not reflect site-based competency. The minimum requirement is a full Apprenticeship qualification or an S/NVQ L2, and this can also be achieved by an OSAT version of the S/NVQ. This card will cover you during this transition period.
The new SICCS Temporary Worker Card will only be issued to an applicant once. The new SICCS Temporary Worker Card is valid for 1 year only.
What is an OSAT Qualification?
The OSAT is a quick process of assessment of your skills by an approved assessor, conducted on site and does not require college attendance or long duration, and can be signed off within a 6-week period.
